Safety

It is worth asking locals or fellow walkers about your route or the prevailing weather conditions before you go just to get an idea of what to expect. Always check the weather forecast and don’t leave unless you are sure that the weather conditions are suitable and likely to remain suitable. For a seven day regional forecast call: 0891 333 111 code 101.

You should always tell someone (for example your accommodation provider) where you are going, when you are leaving and when you expect to return. Remember to let that person know when you get back! If you are walking in the moorlands during the shooting season, it is recommended that you contact the local estate to discuss your route. For estate contacts, e-mail info@VisitHebrides.com or telephone +44 (0)1851 703088.
