Maps of the Hebrides

Ordinance Survey Maps

The OS is the national mapping service and this covers the whole of Britain with a range of maps. The most popular maps used by walkers are the 1:25000 (pathfinder) and the 1:50,000 (landranger sheets). The maps are measured on a gird of square kilometres and they Outer Hebrides have six 1:50,000 landranger sheets covering them:

No 8:Stornoway and North Lewis
No 13:West Lewis and North Harris
No14:Tarbert and Loch Seaforth
No 18:Sound of Harris and St Kilda
No 22:Benbecula
No 31:Barra and Surrounding Islands

This official Tourist Map is made by the Western Isles Tourist Board. It is at a scale of 1:125,000 and covers all the islands. It contains useful information such as roads, tourist attractions, beaches, mountain ranges and hill heights, walking routes and transport links. It is bilingual and has places names in both Gaelic and English.
