Gaelic Language

A dual language signage programme has been implemented throughout the islands but it remains patchy in places. You will find that some placenames and road signs are in Gaelic, some in English, and some in both. The official Tourist Map is very useful as it has both Gaelic and English names for all places of interest on it so this should reduce confusion and the OS map contains anglicised names on it as well. If you are unsure, just ask a friendly local... people here appreciate the problem and are always happy to help!
